拉夫堡大学航空与汽车工程学院在业界享有声誉。汽车工程专业始于1919年，而航空工程始于1935年。学院与BAE系统工程公司（全球第二大的军事制造商）、宾利公司、英国航空、福特汽车、莲花集团、美洲豹路虎公司、JCB杰西博工程机械公司、MIRA、CAT卡特彼勒公司、劳斯莱斯公司和其他很多汽车配件供应商有着特别紧密而长期的合作。学院同时也是劳斯莱斯大学技术中心（UTC）燃烧流体动力学和卡特公司革新与研究中心（IRC）的所在地。
学院1400万英镑的实验设施包括：风洞实验室、消声室、室内无人机测试系统、结构测试设施、燃气轮机、8个特别设计建造的引擎测试设备、底盘/机架功率机和其他多种汽车测试设备。
本科航天类课程全部获得皇家航空协会和国家机械工程协会的认证，而汽车类课程也获得国际机械协会的认证。
研究领域，在最新的泰晤士报排名中，航空工程排名全英第8，而机械/汽车工程也排名第5。现有超过150个研究生在30多名老师指导下开展多方向研究。在最近的全国研究水平评估中，学院开展的95%的研究处于最高级别的“世界水平”。
